Hold onto your glass object with one hand. You can try placing it inside a clamp, but it is more likely to crack the edge of your glass. Only use this method if you can safely grasp the glass object without coming into contact with the sanding bit.


A tile cutter with a diamond blade works to smooth the edges of glass. I bought one at a garage sale to cut slate tiles and found it also works to finish glass edges. Mine has a way to tilt the blade also. On large clear glass I use a sponge type sanding block (used by painters) - this will take the edge off enough to preventing cutting your self.
